Wagga Wagga, also informally known as Wagga, is a significant regional city in New South Wales’ Riverina region. The Wagga Wagga City Council offers the city’s local government area. Wagga Wagga lies 244 kilometres from Canberra, 452 kilometres from Sydney, and 456 kilometres from Melbourne. In fact, the region is at a central position between Sydney and Melbourne.

As per the June 2018 population estimates, the city reported an urban population of over 56,000 inhabitants, making Wagga Wagga the largest inland city of New South Wales. The area is a major military, agricultural, and transport hub of Australia. Also, it is the ninth-fastest growing and developing inland city in the country.

History of Wagga Wagga The Wiradjuri people were the original inhabitants of Wagga Wagga. The first European to visit this region was Charles Sturt in 1829. Soon after, squatters appeared. By the late 1800s, Wagga Wagga CBD had become well-established. During the First World War, Wagga Wagga was the starting point of the famous snowball march series, “Kangaroo March”.
