Dr Timothy Baird

Tim is an accomplished respiratory and sleep medicine specialist, with extensive training and experience in his field. He is a graduate of the prestigious University of Queensland and has received specialist training both in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Along with practicing medicine in Australia, Tim has also worked abroad, completing a Diploma of Tropical Medicine in the United Kingdom and volunteering as a medical officer in rural Papua New Guinea.

In 2019, Tim returned to the Sunshine Coast to begin practicing again in his hometown. Prior to his return, he underwent an international fellowship at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, UK, where he honed his expertise in complex lung infections, bronchiectasis, and cystic fibrosis. Tim has a particular passion for bronchiectasis and respiratory infections, especially non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease. Nonetheless, he has vast expertise in all other areas of respiratory and sleep medicine, including asthma, COPD, lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, sleep apnoea, and non-respiratory sleep disorders. He is highly skilled in bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), and pleural disease management.

Tim is a staff specialist at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and also consults privately at the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and Buderim Private Hospital. He is actively involved in research and is a current member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, The European Respiratory Society, the Australasian Sleep Association, and the Lung Foundation of Australia. The contributions that Tim has made to the industry are numerous, and patients know him as a compassionate and knowledgeable doctor who consistently provides high-quality care.
