Dr Mowlem is an accomplished medical professional with extensive experience in General Medicine and Respiratory Medicine. After graduating from the University of Auckland in 2000 with the most Distinguished Medical Graduate award, she began her training as a General Physician at Middlemore Hospital, one of the largest tertiary hospitals in New Zealand. Dr Mowlem subsequently honed her skills in Acute Medicine, caring for medically ill patients who presented to emergency departments.
Her passion for Respiratory Medicine led her to undertake Respiratory training at Auckland City Hospital where she gained expertise in managing diverse respiratory conditions such as lung cancer, tuberculosis, respiratory infections, respiratory failure, and airways disease. Additionally, she developed proficiency in performing bronchoscopy and pleural procedures, and thoracic ultrasound.
In pursuit of enhancing her clinical skills even further, Dr Mowlem travelled to Australia to undertake a Sleep Medicine Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2013. During this fellowship, she acquired knowledge about interpreting polysomnography (sleep studies), managing sleep disorders, and non-invasive ventilation.
Dr Mowlem's commitment to advancing medical knowledge is evidenced by her research presentations at numerous international conferences. She continues to provide high-quality medical care to her patients, leveraging her skills and knowledge to improve their quality of life.
