Dr Mayo Theivendran

Mayo is a highly skilled vascular and endovascular surgeon with a wealth of experience in managing all types of vascular conditions. Operating out of St Leonards, Frenchs Forest and Wahroonga, Mayo is committed to providing world-class care that is accessible and responsive to the needs of his patients. With a special interest in minimally invasive endovascular surgery and complex open vascular surgery, Mayo’s expertise is in high demand across Sydney’s beaches and North Shore.

Born to migrant parents from Sri Lanka, Mayo attended Ivanhoe Grammar School in Melbourne before studying medicine at Monash University. After completing his internship at The Austin Hospital in Melbourne, he moved to Sydney in 2009, where he completed specialist surgical training in general surgery. Following this, Mayo went on to undertake a further four years of fellowship training in vascular and endovascular surgery across a range of hospitals in Auckland and Sydney.

Mayo’s commitment to excellence in vascular surgery is matched only by his passion for teaching. As a keen educator, he is involved in the selection of candidates for advanced surgical training through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and regularly teaches medical students and surgical trainees. Mayo is also a member of several medical associations, including the Australian Medical Association, the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery, and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

In his free time, Mayo enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Komathy, and his three mini dachshunds, Schultz, Otto, and Lenny. He’s also a classic BMW enthusiast and enjoys tinkering with these iconic vehicles in his spare time.
