Dr Raffi Qasabian is a highly skilled vascular surgeon with over 10 years of experience providing both open and endovascular surgery in Sydney. He is currently based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Strathfield Private Hospital. Dr Qasabian completed a fellowship in the Department of Vascular Surgery at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London in 2007. During his training, he gained valuable experience in vascular surgery, with a particular focus on thoracic endografting. He also provides a monthly vascular surgical service in Tamworth, regional NSW.
Dr Qasabian is involved in ongoing research initiatives through Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and he has a keen interest in education. Until recently, he was the co-ordinator of the surgical program for third-year medical students at RPAH, and he plays an active role in preparing general surgical and vascular registrars for their fellowship examinations. Dr Qasabian served on the NSW State Committee of the RACS for nine years, including two years as its chairman. He was recently appointed to the Court of Examiners of the RACS and examines in Vascular Surgery.
In addition to his clinical work and teaching, Dr Qasabian is involved in charitable activities. He has been providing a regular vascular service in Armenia for the past ten years and is establishing a school of vascular surgery there. In 2014, he was awarded the Presidential Medal from the President of Armenia for his work.
Dr Qasabian has a broad vascular surgical practice that includes the treatment of thoracic and aortic aneurysms, dissections, and occlusions, peripheral vascular disease, diabetic foot infections, carotid arterial disease, hyperhidrosis, disorders of the thoracic outlet, AVF fistula formation and maintenance for patients requiring dialysis, kidney transplantation, and vascular surgical support for multiple other surgical specialties. His collaboration with the cardiology and cardiothoracic surgical departments ensures the best possible outcomes for patients with complex connective tissue disorders and thoracoabdominal aneurysmal disease.
