Dr Kieran Rowe

Dr Rowe is an esteemed Plastic Surgeon who pursued his medical studies at The University of Melbourne, with the aid of a full residential scholarship from Trinity College. He holds qualifications in Medicine (MBBS), Medical Science (BMedSci), and Music (DipMus in clarinet). His fascination for surgery arose early in his career, and he underwent basic training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, specialising in General Surgery. Subsequently, he embarked on Plastic Surgery training, commencing a PhD under the renowned guidance of Prof Wayne Morrison, a key figure in this field of Medicine. Currently, Dr Rowe is working on completing his PhD before resuming his training in Plastic Surgery in 2012.

Dr Rowe sharpened his skills in Plastic Surgery, primarily hand surgery, during his training in Melbourne, following which he received comprehensive training at the major Plastic Surgery centres in Brisbane - Mater Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, and Royal Brisbane Hospital. During this time, he acquired extensive skills in managing acute and elective hand traumas, becoming proficient in all aspects of hand surgery. He was fortunate to receive guidance from eminent Head and Neck surgeons, such as Dr Vedella Hinckley and Dr William Cockburn. He trained under Head and Neck reconstructive surgeons and received exceptional guidance in Head and Neck cancer resection at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital. Dr Rowe’s dedication to research is noteworthy; he was awarded the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Emmett Prize for his research presentation and remains ardently involved in clinical and basic science research.
