Prof John Leung

Professor John Leung is an experienced Radiation Oncologist based in Adelaide, South Australia. He obtained his MBBS degree and completed his radiation oncology training predominantly at the prestigious Peter MacCallum Institute in Melbourne. Prof Leung has been an esteemed consultant in the field for many years, having worked at renowned healthcare institutions such as Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and the Repatriation Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide.

As a director/partner at the Adelaide Radiotherapy Centre, Prof Leung has been instrumental in delivering world-class cancer care to patients. He has also held similar positions at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Throughout his career, Prof Leung has been actively involved in various College activities and has made significant contributions to the field of radiation oncology.

Prof Leung's dedication to education and training is evident in his roles as Chief Examiner for the College, Deputy Chief Censor, editor of the national journal, and member of the Education Board. He has also served as the Chief Accreditation Officer, Director of Training, and member of the Economic Workforce Committee. His particular interest in workforce issues has led him to publish several peer-reviewed papers on topics such as recommended patient load for radiation oncologists, workforce census data, stress and burnout among radiation oncologists, employment prospects for recent graduates, the role of radiation oncologists in systemic therapy, and the integration of trainees in private practice. Prof Leung is the primary author or co-author of these studies. Furthermore, he has contributed to the literature on various clinical areas, including prostate cancer, spinal cord compression, pancreatic, rectal, and lung cancer.
