Dr John Gallagher is an orthopaedic surgeon with over 20 years of experience, specialising in total and partial knee replacements. He performs robotic-assisted and computer-navigated procedures, and surgery with minimally invasive techniques to support faster recovery and optimal surgical outcomes. A graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (2002), Dr Gallagher trained extensively in North America and the UK with leading knee surgeons, including the Presidents of the American and British Knee Societies and the co-designers of the Oxford Partial Knee Replacement. He integrates the latest advances in knee surgery with a coordinated care model. His long-standing team of nurses, physiotherapists, and clinic staff have supported over 10,000 patients through their knee replacement journey. During his training in the UK, Dr Gallagher had the opportunity to work with the co-designers of the Oxford Unicompartmental (Partial) Knee Replacement. This experience sparked his interest in cartilage repair and meniscal transplant. Dr Gallagher has previous experience working as an athlete care doctor at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the Brisbane 2001 Goodwill Games. He has cared for various sporting teams and athletes at national and international levels.
