He also specialises in behavioural paediatrics, including ADHD, ODD, learning problems, and anxiety and depression in children. Prof Fletcher is dedicated to providing compassionate and collaborative care to children and their families. His experience in managing chronic and complex paediatric conditions enables him to see children of all ages, ranging from newborns with feeding issues to teenagers with behavioural and educational challenges. He places great emphasis on supporting families in accessing medical care, allied health services, and additional support as needed. As a paediatric nephrologist, Prof Fletcher offers comprehensive management for kidney-related conditions, including chronic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, urinary incontinence, dysfunctional voiding, encopresis, and constipation. He has a special interest in genetics and genomics and actively collaborates with research groups such as the Australasian Registry of Rare and Genetic Kidney Disease (ARRK) and KidGen Collaborative. Prof Fletcher completed his PhD in Chronic Renal Injury – Genetic and Immunological Aetiologies at the University of Sydney in 2012. He currently holds an academic appointment as a Professor in the Department of Medicine at Griffith University. His research interests encompass various areas, including genetic renal diseases, neonatal kidney diseases, paediatric workforce development, healthcare service delivery, and integrated care for children in rural and regional areas. Prof Fletcher is actively involved in improving paediatric healthcare delivery and promoting clinician well-being. He is a member of the Neonatal Kidney Collaborative (NKC), an international research group focused on enhancing kidney-related outcomes in premature babies. Additionally, he co-chairs the rural and regional stream of the National Standards of Care for Childhood-onset Heart Disease Advisory Group. Prof Fletcher's dedication to genomic medicine is evident in his involvement as an advisory group member for the NSW Health Genomics Strategy Workforce Curriculum and Education group. He contributed to the development of an education package on genomic testing for childhood developmental syndromes. He is also a co-author of a recent publication on paediatric genomic testing. Currently pursuing an MBA in Health Management at Adelaide University, Prof Fletcher aims to leverage his knowledge and skills to enhance paediatric public healthcare delivery through public-private collaborations across Australia. Over the next 6-12 months, he plans to expand his services by providing and promoting paediatric nephrology telehealth consultations in rural and regional areas of New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, and Queensland.
