Dr Martine Holford is a Pain Medicine Specialist and Anaesthetist with over two decades of experience in the medical field. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1996 and completed her anaesthetic training in 2004. During her work in acute injury and post-operative pain management, Dr Holford developed a passion for Pain Medicine, prompting her to pursue further training in the field at the Professor Tess Cramond Pain Management Centre of Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2005. Dr Holford's dedication and expertise in Pain Medicine were recognized when she was awarded the Merit Award for Achievement in the Faculty of Pain Medicine Examinations in 2005. She was subsequently admitted to the Faculty of Pain Medicine early in 2006. Following this accomplishment, she worked as a Consultant Anaesthetist and Pain Medicine Specialist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital until late 2006. Dr Holford then relocated to Sydney, where she currently serves as a consultant anaesthetist and pain specialist at North Shore Private Hospital and St Vincent’s Private Hospital. In addition to her clinical work, Dr Holford is the director of the Empower Pain Management Program. This program provides intensive multidisciplinary education to patients living with chronic pain. Dr Holford is committed to medical education and has been actively involved in teaching. She served as a member of the Board of Examiners for the Faculty of Pain Medicine and held the position of Head of Anaesthetics at Notre Dame University School of Medicine, Sydney from June 2010 to November 2011. Dr Holford's area of expertise lies in spinal pain and the relationship between the mind and body in the development, perpetuation, and management of persistent pain. Her extensive knowledge and experience in Pain Medicine have established her as a respected expert in the field.
