Dr Yu-Tang Shen

Dr Yu-Tang Shen is a dynamic psychiatrist based in Strathfield, Sydney. With a primary focus on Old Age Psychiatry, Psychological therapy, and PTSD, Dr Shen brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his practice.

Dr Shen completed his medical training at the prestigious University of Melbourne in 2009, obtaining a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery. He further pursued his passion for psychiatry by completing his fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

Specializing in Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Dr Shen has acquired extensive training and experience in various modalities, including psychodynamic therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), interpersonal psychotherapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. As a member of the Faculty of Old Age, the Faculty of Psychotherapy, and Neurostimulation, he stays updated with the latest advancements in the field.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Shen is actively involved in teaching and training medical students and fellow psychiatrists. Throughout his career, he has held positions as a psychogeriatrician at prestigious institutions such as St Vincent’s Hospital and Liverpool Hospital.

Dr Shen is highly proficient in Mandarin Chinese, allowing him to effectively communicate with patients who prefer to communicate in their native language.

His areas of interest and expertise include ADHD, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, dementia-related disorders, depression, EMDR therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, neuropsychiatry, obsessive-compulsive disorders, personality disorders, psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychosis, and schizophrenia.
