Dr Vivian Yu

Dr. Vivian Yu is a highly skilled surgeon specialising in breast, endocrine, and general surgery. With her extensive training in Australia and overseas, Dr. Yu is dedicated to providing the best possible care to every patient by understanding their specific needs.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Dr. Yu fluently speaks Cantonese and English at home. She completed her medical degree at The University of Melbourne School of Medicine in 2002, gaining experience in breast, endocrine, and general surgery at Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong during her studies.

After graduation, Dr. Yu completed her internship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, before becoming a resident medical officer at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide. She then returned to Melbourne to complete her general surgical training through the Alfred Hospital. Dr. Yu became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011, and she then undertook extensive post-fellowship subspecialty training in general, breast, and endocrine surgery at multiple major centers throughout Australasia.

During her subspecialty training, Dr. Yu enriched her skills and expertise in a variety of surgical techniques. She gained valuable experience in elective and emergency general surgery, oncoplastic techniques for optimizing breast cancer surgery, thyroidectomy for medication-resistant Graves' disease and large multinodular goiters, and minimally invasive parathyroidectomy.

Dr. Yu also has a keen interest in surgical education and is a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators. She regularly instructs surgical trainees through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and General Surgeons Australia and is currently pursuing a Master's in Surgical Education. With her dedication to her patients and ongoing medical education, Dr. Yu is an asset to the medical community and a trusted surgeon to those in need.
