Dr Vikas Gupta

Dr Vikas Gupta is a highly qualified Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist specialising in Hepatology. He currently practices in Birtinya, a suburb located in the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland, Australia. Dr Gupta is associated with the esteemed Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital.

Dr Gupta obtained his medical degree with Honours from the University of New South Wales. He then underwent comprehensive training at the renowned endoscopy unit of Westmead Hospital. Following this, he pursued an Interventional Endoscopy fellowship at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney. Dr Gupta was subsequently accepted into the Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Continuing his pursuit of advanced skills, he completed a Fellowship in hepatopancreatobiliary medicine at one of Europe's leading endoscopy centers in France, focusing on therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP).

With a commitment to evidence-based care, Dr Gupta prioritizes the quality and safety of endoscopy procedures for his patients. He currently serves as the clinical lead for quality and safety in endoscopy at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Dr Gupta is also accredited by the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE).

Dr Gupta is an active member of various professional organizations, including the Royal Australian College of Physicians, Gastroenterological Society of Australia, and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In addition to English, he is fluent in Hindi, facilitating effective communication with a diverse patient population.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr Gupta enjoys living on the beautiful Sunshine Coast with his young family. He is a sports enthusiast, particularly supporting the Blues despite relocating to Queensland. Alongside his colleagues, Dr Gupta is dedicated to bringing tertiary level endoscopic services to the Coast, ensuring patients receive top-notch care close to home.
