Dr Mohamed Hassen

Dr Mohamed Hassen is an accomplished Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with over 20 years of medical experience. He graduated from North Colombo Medical College in Sri Lanka with Second Class Honours and the Gold Medal for Best Medical Graduate in 1990. Dr Hassen then pursued his post-graduate studies in New Zealand, where he completed his Physician and Gastroenterology training.

In 2005, he obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Dr Hassen has been practicing as a Gastroenterologist in the Sunshine Coast since 2009.

Before moving to the Sunshine Coast, Dr Hassen worked as a locum Gastroenterologist at Auckland City Hospital in New Zealand. Prior to that, he served as a physician, gastroenterologist, and head of the gastroenterology department at Apollo Hospitals (Pvt) Ltd, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, for four years.

Throughout his career, Dr Hassen has worked at reputable medical institutions including Buderim Gastroenterology Centre, Sunshine Coast Private Hospital, Ramsay Hospitals, Nambour Selangor Private Hospital, and Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital. Dr Hassen offers consultation and procedural gastroenterology services to patients on the Sunshine Coast.

Dr Hassen's special interests lie in interventional endoscopy, hepatology, general gastroenterology, and capsule endoscopy. He is dedicated to providing comprehensive care to his patients, and he believes in a patient-centered approach to medicine.

Outside of medicine, Dr Hassen enjoys indulging in his hobbies, which include cycling, kayaking, gardening, travelling, and music. He is committed to maintaining a healthy work-life balance and believes in the importance of staying active and engaged outside of his professional duties. Dr Hassen is fluent in English and is known for his compassionate and empathetic approach towards his patients.
