Dr Sam Mikhaiel

Dr. Sam Mikhaiel is a distinguished Psychiatrist who has been serving the Queensland community for several years. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and has worked at multiple mental health services across the state. Dr. Mikhaiel's passion for psychiatry led him to specialize in Old Age Psychiatry, and he was awarded his Certificate in Old Age Psychiatry in 2020. Currently, he is serving as a Lecturer at Griffith University on the Gold Coast, where he is educating the next generation of psychiatrists.

Dr. Mikhaiel possesses a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the assessment and management of Psychiatric Disorders in both adults and older adults. He is competent in treating a wide range of mental health issues, including but not limited to Anxiety Disorders, Depressive and Bipolar Affective Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Personality Disorders, and Trauma-Related Mental Health issues like PTSD. Dr. Mikhaiel has a keen interest in the correlation between older adults' mental health problems and cognitive disorders like Dementia Disorders.

Dr. Mikhaiel is dedicated to providing his patients with the most recent, evidence-based practices in psychiatry, including psychotropic medications, psychotherapy (IPT, CBT, and Psychodynamic Therapy), and neurostimulation treatments (ECT and TMS). His primary focus is to foster transparent and effective communication with patients, families, and caregivers and deliver a comprehensive framework of care that promotes recovery from mental illness. Dr. Mikhaiel strives to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure that his patients receive the highest standards of care.
