Dr Ruwanthi Wijayawardana

Dr. Rue is a skilled and experienced surgeon with a passion for providing top-quality care to her patients. She completed her Bachelor Medical Sciences, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree in 2010 at the University of Sydney, followed by her surgical training at Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals. She continued her education, obtaining a Master of Surgery (Colorectal Surgery) from the University of Sydney and her fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2021. She went on to complete a fellowship in advanced General Surgery and Peritonectomy at St George Hospital, and now works as a General and Peritonectomy surgeon at both St George Public and Private Hospitals.

Throughout her career, Dr. Rue has honed her skills in a wide range of surgical procedures, including endoscopic procedures like gastroscopy and colonoscopy, as well as laparoscopic and open techniques for general surgical procedures like hernias, cholecystectomy, skin lesions, and perianal disease. She is also experienced in complex oncological procedures, providing patients with personalized treatment plans to meet their individual needs.

Dr. Rue is a passionate advocate for diversity in the medical field and enjoys mentoring junior doctors, helping to shape the careers of future surgeons.
