Dr. Sergei Tsakanov is a highly skilled General Surgeon who completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney in 2005 and has since spent over a decade perfecting his surgical craft. He has gained experience working in rural and metropolitan settings including hospitals such as Prince of Wales, Wollongong, St George, St Vincents, Sutherland, Bankstown and Darwin hospitals. In 2019, Dr. Tsakanov was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, an achievement of great significance in his professional field. Currently, he works as a Visiting Medical Officer at Auburn hospital and also as a regular locum VMO at Armidale and South East Regional (Bega) hospitals.
Dr. Tsakanov is passionate about training future surgeons and has a Masters degree in Surgical Education from the University of Melbourne. He holds the position of Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Notre Dame Australia and is an examiner for the Surgical part 1 Examinations. An expert in his field, Dr. Tsakanov has developed and implemented an innovative online teaching program called “Online Ward Rounds” which has garnered international recognition through various publications and presentations. He is also a co-host of the “Virtual Ward Rounds” Podcast, where he speaks extensively on various aspects of Surgery and Surgical Training.
Dr. Sergei Tsakanov is committed to promoting a shared decision-making approach with patients to ensure that the best possible treatment outcomes are achieved. He is recognized for his skills in delivering clear and easily understandable descriptions of proposed treatments.
