Dr Matthew D.A. Horton is an accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon who specialises in various complex surgeries including VATS (Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery), aortic surgery, valve surgery, and bypass surgery. He completed his undergraduate studies at Sydney University and went on to receive his Fellowship from Oxford before being appointed as a consultant surgeon at St Vincent's and St George Hospital. Currently practicing at St. George Hospital and St. George Private Hospital, he also serves as a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the latter.
One of Dr Horton's greatest passions is advocating for the Knights of St George, a charity founded by his father, Dr David Horton, a renowned cardiothoracic surgeon. The organisation raises funds for vital equipment needed in the Cardiothoracic Unit at St. George Hospital, and to date, donations have surpassed $1.25 million.
Dr Horton's linguistic abilities extend beyond English as he is proficient in French as well. His dedication and interest in his field of work have been integral to his success, and he continues pushing the boundaries to provide the highest standard of cardiovascular care to patients.
