Dr Rifat Chaudry

Dr Rifat Chaudry is a highly experienced Specialist in Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, currently practicing in Frenchs Forest, Sydney, Australia. Originally from the UK, Dr Chaudry relocated to Australia in 2015 and is associated with the Northern Beaches Hospital.

Dr Chaudry's medical journey began at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow, where she completed her initial training. She went on to train at leading children's hospitals in London, gaining extensive experience in tertiary and quaternary Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine (PRSM). Dr Chaudry obtained her Doctorate (MD) from Imperial College London, focusing on "Cardiopulmonary function in children with Sickle Cell Disease." She has presented her research findings at international conferences and published in reputable journals. In recognition of her research, Dr Chaudry was awarded The Michael Blacow Award in 2007 by The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health UK.

Dr Chaudry has a special interest in various pediatric respiratory conditions, including childhood asthma, recurrent bronchitis, viral-induced wheeze, chronic wet cough, noisy breathing, cystic fibrosis, congenital lung abnormalities, allergic rhinitis, and sleep-disordered breathing such as obstructive sleep apnea, behavioral insomnia of childhood, and narcolepsy. She completed formal sleep training in London in 2009 and trained for over seven years at renowned institutions like Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital (GOSH) and The Royal Brompton Hospital, learning from the UK's top academic clinicians.

Being a mother herself, Dr Chaudry understands the unique challenges parents face when caring for children with diverse needs. She takes a holistic approach to her clinical management, considering each child's individual requirements while providing practical and sustainable medical care. Currently serving as a Staff Specialist in Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at John Hunter Children's Hospital in Newcastle, Dr Chaudry remains dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care to her patients.
