Dr Michelle Ammerer is a highly skilled and experienced cardiologist based in Subiaco, Perth, Western Australia. She obtained her medical degree (MBBS) from The University of Western Australia and completed her cardiology training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. Dr Ammerer furthered her expertise by completing an interventional fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston.
With a comprehensive understanding of adult cardiology, Dr Ammerer has a special interest in the early identification and prevention of coronary artery disease, chest pain management, and heart disease in women. She has undertaken sub-specialty training as an interventional cardiologist, with advanced skills in coronary angiography, angioplasty, and stenting.
Committed to reducing the burden of ischemic heart disease in Western Australia, Dr Ammerer runs a dedicated CardioVascular Clinic. This clinic is designed for patients at risk of coronary artery disease who want to understand their personal risk factors, as well as those experiencing potential symptoms of ischemic heart disease. Dr Ammerer combines the latest diagnostic techniques with comprehensive cardiology consultation in these clinics.
Dr Ammerer consults with Western Cardiology at Carine, Midland, and Subiaco. She serves as an interventional cardiologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and is a Fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand.
In recognition of her significant contributions to the field of cardiology and the community, Dr Ammerer was awarded the 2008 40Under40 competition. She has also served on the WA board of the National Heart Foundation for 14 years, contributing to the advancement of heart health in the region. Additionally, Dr Ammerer actively participates in the education of medical students at The University of Western Australia, Notre Dame, and Curtin University through clinical teaching.
