A/Prof Sayed Ali is an experienced medical oncologist specialising in the treatment of various types of cancer. He currently practices at Icon Cancer Centre Midland in Perth, Western Australia, and also consults at St John of God Midland Hospital and Midwest Cancer Centre in Geraldton.
A/Prof Ali obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Utkal University in India. He completed his postgraduate training at the St Vincent physician training network in Sydney before pursuing specialist medical oncology training at the prestigious Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. He became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) upon completion of his training.
Throughout his career, A/Prof Ali has shown a strong dedication to teaching and research, focusing particularly on cancer immunology and immunotherapy. He played a key role in establishing services for melanoma and immunotherapy at The Canberra Hospital. He currently holds positions as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Canberra and a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Curtin University in Western Australia.
In collaboration with the Australian National University (ANU) Medical School and the University of Canberra, A/Prof Ali is actively involved in translational research to identify patients who would benefit from immune checkpoint inhibitors and predict potential toxicity. He is a member of the Kirkbride Melanoma Advisory Service and is associated with prominent cancer trial groups such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA), Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA), and the Australia and New Zealand Melanoma Trials Group (ANZMTG).
A/Prof Ali's research contributions have been widely recognized, and his work has been published in reputable journals including the Asia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Melanoma Research. His clinical expertise covers a broad range of solid tumor malignancies, with special interests in immunotherapy, gastrointestinal cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, melanoma, and prostate cancer.
