Dr John Gallagher

Dr John Gallagher is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in knee surgery. With over 20 years of practice and more than a decade dedicated to knee surgery, he is a highly experienced professional. Dr Gallagher graduated from the Queensland Medical School and became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2002.

Dr Gallagher has extensive expertise in all knee surgeries for adults and adolescents. He completed three years of advanced training with renowned knee surgeons in North America and the UK, including the Presidents of the American and British Knee Societies. His training focused on reconstructive and arthroscopic surgery for athletes, ranging from high demand athletes to individuals seeking minimally invasive techniques for partial and total knee replacements, including revision knee replacements.

During his training in the UK, Dr Gallagher had the opportunity to work with the co-designers of the Oxford Unicompartmental (Partial) Knee Replacement. This experience sparked his interest in cartilage repair and meniscal transplant.

Dr Gallagher has previous experience working as an athlete care doctor at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the Brisbane 2001 Goodwill Games. He has cared for various sporting teams and athletes at national and international levels. His dedication to athlete care extends to individuals of all levels, from the everyday athlete to the professional sports person.
