Dr Jodie-Kate Williams is an experienced consultant general and trauma surgeon with a decade of surgical experience in the New South Wales and Northern Territory regions of Australia. She completed her medical school at the University of Sydney and acquired her Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) after undergoing surgical training in Newcastle. Dr Williams also completed additional training in Trauma and General Surgery during her Fellowship at the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) in Darwin, and worked as a General Surgeon at a private practice in Newcastle.

Dr Williams is currently serving as the Director of Trauma at the NCCTRC and is responsible for the clinical care of trauma and general surgery patients at the Royal Darwin Hospital. She also coordinates the trauma teaching program across the Northern Territory and advocates for quality surgical care and disease prevention at a national and territorial level. Additionally, Dr Williams is a registered General Surgeon in the Australian Medical Assistance Teams (AUSMAT) and has been deployed nationally and internationally several times. She directs the Surgical Team AUSMAT course annually and is part of the WHO Global EMT network.

Dr Williams is also an advocate for equal access to quality healthcare and holds a keen interest in education and advocacy. She instructs courses on Surgical Education, Basic Surgical Skills, Burn care, Mass Casualty and Disaster throughout Australia and the Pacific Region. Dr Williams also chairs the RACS Bi-national Road Trauma Advisory Sub-Committee and is a member of the RACS Binational Trauma Committee, Women in Surgery and Rural Surgery Sections. She is also a part of the Executive Board of the Australasian Trauma Society and the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

Dr Williams recently returned to Newcastle where she holds both private and public appointments in General Surgery and Trauma. Her service covers the treatment of gallbladder disease, hernias, large and small intestine surgical disease, and skin cancers. Dr Williams is accredited with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) for performing both gastroscopy and colonoscopy. She operates at Belmont and John Hunter Hospitals along with Lake Macquarie Private Hospital and Warners Bay Private Hospital. Dr Williams aims to provide the best possible care for the Hunter community and her patients in a safe and holistic manner.
