Dr David Shepherd

Dr David Shepherd is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in large joint surgeries. Operating out of Cairns Private Hospital, he has over 29 years of experience in the field. Dr Shepherd offers general orthopaedic consultancy and specializes in arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder, as well as hip, knee, and shoulder joint replacement surgery. He believes in providing quality, long-term relationships with his patients and focuses on offering comprehensive orthopaedic advice with clear treatment pathways.

Being a local to Cairns, Dr Shepherd has strong connections in the medical community and supports the James Cook University teaching program for Medicine. He is dedicated to the community of Far North Queensland and has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people in remote areas. Dr Shepherd actively participates in fundraising events, such as the Cairns to Karumba bike ride, to support school children in remote areas. Outside of work, Dr Shepherd is devoted to his family and dog. He enjoys training his dog in obedience and agility, and indulges in camping, boating, and exploring the beautiful landscapes of Far North Queensland and the Cape.
