Dr Mohan Swaminathan

Ramsay Cairns is delighted to welcome Dr Mohan Swaminathan as a new Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist at their facility in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Known affectionately as 'Dr Mohan' by colleagues and patients alike, he brings with him extensive experience in Neonatology and Pediatrics, accumulated over the course of two decades working at various tertiary hospitals in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth.

Dr Swaminathan completed his medical and post-graduate training in Paediatrics and Child Health at Grant Medical College and Sir J. J Group of Hospitals, University of Bombay (now Mumbai), India. Subsequently, he pursued further specialization in Paediatrics and Neonatology in Australia, earning him the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Paediatrics and Child Health.

His research and teaching efforts have focused on perinatal and neonatal medicine, as well as injury surveillance and prevention. Dr Swaminathan's areas of expertise and interest lie particularly in Neonatal Education, with an emphasis on Neonatal Resuscitation. He has shared his knowledge and skills as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine (University of Queensland) and as a Clinical Mentor at the School of Medicine, Notre Dame University Fremantle, Perth. Additionally, he is an esteemed member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Mater Research.

Dr Swaminathan is a facilitator for the Teaching on The Run (TOTR) program, designed to support busy clinicians in improving their clinical teaching methods. Through this program, he contributes to the education and training of medical students and doctors, guiding them during their clinical training.

Outside of his professional commitments, Dr Swaminathan cultivates interests in amateur photography and the creative arts. His multifaceted expertise and passion for his work make him a valuable addition to the Ramsay Cairns team, and they look forward to collaborating with him.
