Dr. Starmer's dedication to improving cardiac care led him to London, Ontario, Canada, where he completed a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology. During this time, he focused on trans-radial access, complex cardiac and vascular interventions, structural heart interventions, and acute emergency cases. With his experience and international exposure, Dr. Starmer brings a vast range of skills to his current practice in Far North Queensland.

Since returning to his hometown in 2011, Dr. Starmer has been an integral part of the Cairns Hospital and Cairns Private Hospital. He currently serves as the Director of Cardiology, leading the development of their renowned 24/7 emergency coronary intervention service. Together with his specialist colleagues, Dr. Starmer aims to establish a world-class "Heart Team" dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients with cardiac conditions in Far North Queensland.
