Dr Shyam Dheda

Dr. Dheda is a skilled Nephrologist who joined the renal department of Cairns Hospital in 2014. Originally from South Africa, he received specialist training in Perth and Brisbane. Dr. Dheda’s practice covers all areas of Nephrology, with a special emphasis on home-based dialysis and haemodialysis. Alongside his medical practice, he is highly involved in research, clinical governance, and quality improvement activities. Currently, he is working towards a PhD degree, with a research focus on inflammation and its effects on dialysis.

After relocating to Cairns, Dr. Dheda has become an important member of the regional medical community thanks to his decades of experience and expertise in Nephrology.
