Shepparton is situated on the Goulburn River in the northern part of Victoria. The city is located around 181 km on the north-northeastern side of Melbourne. As per the census of June 2018, the recorded population of Shepparton was recorded as 51,631. Shepparton has three suburbs which are nearby towns. These suburbs are Mooroopna which lies in the east, Kialla that lies towards the south and Shepparton East which lies on the eastern side.
Living in Shepparton Shepparton hosts the famous Moooving Art Project. This is an occasion which involves all talented local artists whose paintings are displayed in popular tourist attractions all around the city and various townships. Aquamoves is a unique swimming centre that attracts several swimmers throughout the year. There are several places of interest in and around Shepparton, home to many museums and theatrical groups as well as several sports clubs and facilities.
Transportation Facilities Shepparton is situated at the junction of Goulburn Valley Highway and Midland Highway. The city is well-connected through bus services. The Airport is located in the south of the town.
History of Shepparton Before the arrival of the Europeans, Shepparton was occupied by Yorta Yorta, who were the Australian people who chose to stay in the region. General Thomas Mitchell was the first European to have surveyed the place. Around two years later, more people started camping in the region. After the war, the region's population had tripled as several people chose to move into this area. In the next few years, developments in the city began. Today, Shepparton is a modern city, with many old buildings replaced by new ones.
