Dr Thomas Lam

Dr Thomas Lam is a highly accomplished plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon with several decades of experience. He earned his MBBS from the University of New South Wales in 1984 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery in 1990 and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 1996. He has also held fellowships from several international surgical colleges, including FRCSGlasg, FRCSEd, FCSHK, FHKAM(Surgery), and the Royal Society of Medicine. Notably, he was awarded a Doctor of Clinical Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2018 after completing further post-graduate studies and his doctoral thesis. Dr Lam's central area of expertise is in Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery. However, he has a particular interest in breast reconstruction following mastectomy for cancer and liposuction for Lymphoedema. He serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at both Sydney University (Western Clinical School at Westmead Hospital) and Macquarie University (Macquarie University Hospital). Apart from his work as a surgeon and educator, Dr Lam is an active member of several professional organisations, including being appointed a Councillor of the Westmead Association, the Training Supervisor for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Macquarie University Hospital, and a member of the NSW Regional Subcommittee of the Australian Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He also serves on the Court of Specialty Examiners at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and is Head of the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Westmead & Auburn Public Hospitals. Dr Lam's clinical interests include breast surgery, including augmentation, reduction, and reconstruction; skin cancers; and cosmetic surgery, including facelift, eyelid lifts, rhinoplasty, abdominoplasty, and liposuction. He is highly respected in his field and has earned a reputation for providing exceptional patient care and achieving excellent surgical outcomes.
