Dr Stefan Ponosh

Stefan is a highly experienced and contemporary vascular specialist who offers a comprehensive service to treat all aspects of vascular disease. With a patient-centered ethos, Stefan provides modern, evidence-based medicine, using the latest state-of-the-art procedures and techniques along with his personal experience. He offers a range of treatments, from open and minimally invasive endovascular options to conservative therapies to treat peripheral arterial disease, varicose vein disorders, aneurysmal disease, carotid artery disease, renal access and intravenous access, ulcer and diabetic foot management. Stefan's special interest in non-invasive vascular imaging has led to the integration of vascular ultrasound within his practice through Perth VascuScan.

Despite leaving the public sector in 2016, Stefan maintains close associations with this sector and is always happy to see public patients in his private clinic located in Nedlands. He operates at Hollywood Private Hospital and SJOG Subiaco where he provides proactive acute and chronic management services. Additionally, he is always available for urgent phone advice and assistance and has a no-gap policy for all inpatient services for private patients.

Stefan is a graduate of the University of Western Australia and completed his Vascular Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2009. He has extensive training in Perth, the Eastern States, and overseas and worked as a staff specialist at both Royal Perth Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. During his tenure, he was Head of Department of Vascular Surgery for two years and Co-Director of the High Risk Foot Service at Sir Charles Gairdner. With a keen interest in teaching, Stefan has been the Director of Vascular Training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and continues to teach junior medical staff in his practice. He has published extensively on various areas of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery.

Away from his work, Stefan enjoys a work-life balance with his partner Anna and their five children, traveling and exploring new destinations. Urgent cases and referrals from colleagues and GPs are triaged for an appropriate review, with urgent appointments available or direct admission to the hospital if required. All vascular imaging services, including Ultrasound and CT, are bulk-billed for patient convenience.
