Prof Nick Pavlakis

Dr. Nick Pavlakis is a highly accomplished medical oncologist specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of solid tumors. He practices primarily in Frenchs Forest, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Dr. Pavlakis is affiliated with the North Shore Private Hospital and holds VMO positions at the hospital.

Dr. Pavlakis obtained his medical degree from the University of New South Wales in 1991. He completed his general medical training and advanced training in Medical Oncology at the Royal North Shore Hospital, earning his FRACP qualification in 1997. To further his expertise, Dr. Pavlakis pursued a PhD in new cancer drug development and a Master's in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney.

Since 2001, Dr. Pavlakis has been an integral member of the Department of Medical Oncology at the Royal North Shore Hospital. Currently, he serves as the Head of Department and Head of the Clinical Trials Unit. In addition, Dr. Pavlakis is a private oncologist at the Northern Cancer Institute.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Pavlakis has held various executive positions, including involvement with the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA), the Private Cancer Physicians Group of Australia (PCPA), the Australian Lung Cancer Trials Group, and advisory boards for colorectal and lung cancers, as well as new cancer drugs. He is recognized for his expertise in anti-angiogenesis drugs and his dedication to improving patient outcomes and advancing the development of new cancer therapies.

As an academic medical oncologist, Dr. Pavlakis has published numerous journal manuscripts and actively engages in research and teaching collaborations with institutions such as RNSH, NCI (University of Sydney), MOGA, PCPA, and RACP. He is particularly passionate about the treatment of lung cancers, mesothelioma, colorectal cancers, gastrointestinal cancers, and genitourinary cancers.
