Dr Marcus Handmer

Dr Marcus Handmer is a highly qualified Urological Surgeon with extensive training in Urology, including the latest techniques in robotic, laparoscopic and open surgery, treatment for stones, and male lower urinary tract symptoms. He is known for his approachable and empathetic style of patient care, working collaboratively with his colleagues to achieve the optimal results for his patients.

Dr Handmer graduated with First Class Honours and the University Medal in 2012 from medical school before undergoing rigorous training in General and Urological Surgery. His outstanding performances during his training earned him multiple prestigious prizes, including the Chris Farrell and Keith Kirkland prizes. He completed his Fellowship exams in 2019, followed by specialist training in robotic uro-oncology at Liverpool Hospital.

Dr Handmer is an active participant in education and advocacy, holding various positions such as Education Trainee Representative on the Board of Urology, serving on National Standards committees, and conjoint lecturer with different universities. He is currently Head of Department (Urology) at John Hunter Hospital, demonstrating his leadership qualities within his profession.
