Dr Ainsworth is a highly qualified Urologist with expertise in managing cases related to prostate, kidney, and bladder cancer, incontinence, stone disease, endoscopic and laparascopic urology. He received his education from Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand. He completed his surgical training at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in 2001 and passed his Fellowship in Urology in 2003 (FRACS Urol) with the Best Registrar Award. Further, he pursued a subspecialty training in laparoscopy, pelvic oncology, and complex urological reconstruction surgery at the University Hospital of Cardiff, Wales.
Dr Ainsworth has private consulting rooms in Hamilton, Newcastle, and in Maitland. He operates privately at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, Lingard Private Hospital, and Maitland Private Hospital, and also admits public patients to the John Hunter Hospital, the Royal Newcastle Centre, and Maitland Public Hospital. In 2013, he was elected as the Head of the Department of Urology for the Hunter New England Area Health Service, where he supervises a team of 11 consultant urologists, 2 trainee registrars, and 2 junior medical officers, along with managing inpatient and outpatient services. He played a crucial role in modernizing the running and administration of the department.
Dr Ainsworth is committed to providing patients with the highest quality urological care. He passionately works towards clinical research and audit in areas related to prostate cancer, stone management, and incontinence. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys sailing, golf, and rugby, and is married with three children.
