Dr Joseph Montarello

Dr Joseph Montarello is a highly experienced cardiologist based in South Australia, Australia. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees with distinction from the University of Adelaide in 1981. Soon after, he completed his physician training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and then transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 1986 to pursue advanced cardiology training.

In 1988, Dr Montarello worked as a clinical research fellow at Guys Hospital in London. During this time, he was deeply involved in evaluating the application of laser therapy for the treatment of coronary disease. Furthermore, he honed his skills in the emerging field of colour doppler echocardiography at the Hammersmith Hospital. In recognition of his expertise, Dr Montarello was awarded the fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 1988.

Upon returning to Adelaide, Dr Montarello served as a senior registrar in interventional cardiology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and subsequently assumed a visiting consultancy position at the same institution. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, a role that sets him apart within his field in Australia.

Dr Montarello's primary focus lies in interventional cardiology, with a particular interest in coronary artery disease. He brings a wealth of expertise to his practice, combining his extensive experience and dedication to improving patient outcomes.
