Dr Jigna Hapani

Dr Jigna Hapani is an Australian trained specialist pain medicine physician with expertise in managing acute pain, musculoskeletal pain, chronic lumbosacral back pain, neuropathic pain, and visceral pains. Her approach to patient care is centered on providing whole-person care by using evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to maximize physical and psychological function, while minimizing pain and unhelpful medications. Dr Hapani completed her Bachelor of Medicine and a Diploma in Anaesthesia, Doctorate of Medicine Anaesthesia, and post-doctoral certificate course in Anaesthesia (cardiac anaesthesia) in India before obtaining her Fellowship Faculty Pain Medicine ANZCA in October 2020 in Australia. She has worked as a pain fellow at Canberra Hospital, Peter MacCallum Centre, and Melbourne Pain Group, as well as a pain medicine consultant at Metro Pain Group, where she gained experience in outpatient, inpatient, and interventional pain management. Before commencing her pain medicine training, Dr Hapani completed her cardiac anaesthetic training in India and worked as a specialist anaesthetist in India and Oman before moving to Australia in 2008. She has been a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists since 2011 and was the supervisor of anaesthetic training in Dubbo, NSW. Dr Hapani has worked as an anaesthetist in Victoria, NSW, and Queensland and has extensive experience in procedural skills such as inpatient ketamine infusion, ultrasound-guided nerve blocks for palliative cancer patients, radiofrequency ablations including medial branch blocks, pulsed radiofrequency procedures, epidural steroid injections, and sacroiliac joint injections. In addition to English, Dr Hapani speaks Hindi and Gujarati.
