Iman Bayat is an Australian vascular and endovascular surgeon who specialises in the management of arterial and venous diseases using the latest minimally invasive techniques. He is internationally trained and has a background that is richly diverse in ethnicity and education. Iman completed his internship and basic surgical training in the United Kingdom, which granted him a membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He then undertook five years of vascular surgery training in Australia at renowned institutions such as the Royal Perth, the Western, and Austin Hospitals.
Iman's training also included completing one year of specialized training at the prestigious Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he learned state-of-the-art treatments for aortic aneurysms and chronic venous disease. After being granted fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in vascular surgery, Iman undertook two short post-fellowship trainings at internationally acclaimed institutions. He trained at Skane University Hospital in Malmo, Sweden, a center known for its complex aortic work, and at the Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina, which is renowned for its thoracic aortic and complex venous expertise.
Iman is currently the head of the Vascular Surgery Unit at the Northern Hospital, where he has played a critical role in the development of several services there, including a center of excellence for complex venous disorders. He is known for his compassionate care and his ability to offer detailed explanations to his patients regarding their medical conditions. As an Iranian-Australian, Iman takes pride in his Persian roots and his multicultural background, which he says have been essential in his clinical practice.
