Dr Donald Osborne

Dr Donald Osborne is an orthopaedic surgeon based in East Maitland, Maitland. With a focus on arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder, Dr Osborne brings extensive expertise to his practice.

Dr Osborne completed his Medical Degree at the University of Adelaide in 1993. Following this, he undertook both his basic surgical training and orthopaedic training in Newcastle. He later gained additional experience through fellowships in Italy and Australia.

Since returning to the region in 2004, Dr Osborne has been actively involved in both private and public hospital systems. He stays up-to-date with the latest advancements in his field by attending conferences and workshops as both a participant and facilitator, both domestically and internationally. Dr Osborne is an active member of international and Australian professional bodies. He also plays a role in educating medical professionals, junior doctors, medical students, and physiotherapy students through the University of Newcastle. In addition, he mentors and examines orthopaedic trainees for the Australian Orthopaedic Association, assisting them in their final exams.

Furthermore, Dr Osborne offers a fellowship program, providing further training to fully qualified surgeons seeking sub specialization. Recent fellows include Dr Y Michla from the UK and Dr B East from Australia.
