Dr Kate Martin is a highly skilled and dedicated radiation oncologist based in East Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. With a wealth of experience in the field, Dr Martin is committed to providing exceptional care and treatment to her patients.
Dr Martin completed her Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (RT) at the University of Newcastle in 2003, where she initially trained as a radiation therapist before pursuing a career in radiation oncology. In 2004, she began working at the Calvary Mater Newcastle before furthering her medical education at the University of Newcastle, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine (BMed) in 2009.
Following the completion of her medical degree, Dr Martin embarked on her specialist radiation oncology training at the Hunter New England Health Service. During this time, she gained extensive clinical experience and honed her skills in managing various types of solid tumor malignancies.
Dr Martin's areas of expertise include but are not limited to, breast cancer, genitourinary cancer, gynaecological cancers, lung cancer, and skin cancers. She is also well-versed in the use of stereotactic ablative radiation therapy (SBRT) and palliative radiation therapy.
With a patient-focused approach, Dr Martin strives to deliver the highest standard of care to her patients. She takes the time to understand their individual needs and concerns, ensuring that they receive personalized treatment plans tailored to their specific condition.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr Martin has contributed to the medical research field. She has been involved in studies examining the definitive treatment of bladder cancer with image-guided accelerated intensity-modulated radiotherapy for elderly and poor-performing patients. Dr Martin's work has been published in well-regarded medical journals, including Clinical and Translational Radiation Oncology and the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology.
