Dr Cameron Bell

Dr Cameron Bell is a renowned gastroenterologist based in St Leonards, Sydney, Australia. He specialises in gastrointestinal conditions and procedures, with a particular focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), ERCP, and colonoscopy. Dr Bell is affiliated with Southern Highlands Private Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital, where he provides his expertise and care.

With an impressive academic background, Dr Cameron Bell obtained his medical degree from the University of Sydney in 1983. Later, he pursued a Doctorate in Medicine from the same institution in 1996. As part of his role, he heads the Train the Colonoscopist Trainer program, which aims to train consultant colonoscopists to effectively teach the procedure to their trainees, registrars, and fellows. Dr Bell has also developed and introduced two new colonoscopy quality improvement courses for NETI, primarily held in rural and regional areas. These courses focus on upskilling local consultant colonoscopists and ensuring they maintain high standards in their practice.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Bell is actively involved in research and charity initiatives. He is a founding director of Bowel Cancer Australia, the country's leading bowel cancer charity. Dr Bell's contributions to the organization led to the funding of a multi-million dollar Chair of Bowel Cancer Medicine at Sydney University. Furthermore, he chairs the working group responsible for updating the Cancer Council/NH&MRC Guidelines for surveillance colonoscopy. He also serves as the Deputy Chair of the larger group tasked with updating the Cancer Council/NH&MRC Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Prevention, Early Detection & Management of Colorectal Cancer.
