Prof Gilbert Burton

Dr Gil Burton is a highly knowledgeable and experienced Obstetrician and certified Urogynaecologist who focuses on delivering excellent Obstetric outcomes with minimal pelvic impact. He is passionate about helping women with complex problems and has extensive expertise in pelvic floor disorders and lower urinary tract conditions. His advanced skills and training have enabled him to treat women of all ages and restore their quality of life.

Dr Burton completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney and received his Obstetric and Gynaecology training at Royal North Hospital. After winning a scholarship, he pursued Subspecialist Urogynaecology training in London at King's College and became one of the first Australians to achieve Urogynaecology Certification by examination.

He has since had a distinguished career, serving as Head of Department at Royal North Shore Hospital and Chairperson of the Subspecialties Committee. He is an Examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and an inaugural member of the Urogynaecological Society of Australasia. Dr Burton has built an advanced Urodynamic assessment facility with dedicated diagnostic rooms for continence and pelvic floor disorders.

Dr Burton has multiple academic roles at the University of Sydney, UTS, and Notre Dame University, where he continues to teach and supervise students. Additionally, he has ongoing research projects focused on improving the health outcomes of women with pelvic floor injuries. Through his commitment to education, research, and clinical practice, Dr Burton has helped many women achieve better health outcomes and return to active, fulfilling lives.
