Associate Professor Victoria Atkinson is a highly experienced medical professional specialising in oncology. Graduating from the University of Queensland in 1998 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, she then completed her physician training at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. Dr Atkinson subsequently focused her studies on Medical Oncology and completed her fellowship at both the Princess Alexandra and Royal Brisbane Hospitals in 2006.
In 2007, Dr Atkinson was appointed as a full-time staff specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Alongside her work at the hospital, she began private practice at Greenslopes Private Hospital in 2011. Her main areas of expertise and interest lie in melanoma oncology and gastro-intestinal oncology, areas in which she has extensive knowledge and experience.
Dr Atkinson is highly passionate about clinical trials and their crucial role in advancing cancer research. She actively serves as either Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator in numerous studies conducted at Greenslopes Private Hospital through the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Atkinson holds the position of Associate Professor with the University of Queensland's Clinical School of Medicine. In this role, she is deeply committed to educating and guiding future medical professionals in the field of oncology.
