Peter is a skilled surgeon who has dedicated his career to providing quality care to patients in both rural and urban settings. He spent his early years in rural NSW before moving to Brisbane to attend university and complete his medical training at the University of Queensland. Following this, he commenced surgical training, working across various regions in South East and Far North Queensland, as well as the Northern Territory.
After obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2015, Peter relocated to the Northern Territory to work at the Royal Darwin Hospital. He quickly progressed to become a Consultant Surgeon and the Director of Acute Surgical Services, providing essential surgical care to Indigenous communities in remote hospitals such as Gove District Hospital and Katherine Base Hospital.
Peter’s dedication to his work and passion for remote communities led him to undertake a Fellowship in Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in 2017. He joined Ipswich Hospital as a Staff Specialist earlier this year and was recently welcomed to the St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital team.
Peter is known for his expertise in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Endoscopy (GESA accredited colonoscopy and gastroscopy), and Laparoscopic Hernia Repair. However, his true passion lies in providing surgical care to patients in rural and remote areas. Despite his busy schedule, he continues to pursue every opportunity to provide these essential services to those who need them most.
