Dr Nadarajah Kangaharan

Dr Nadarajah Kangaharan, also known affectionately as Dr Kanga, is a highly respected cardiologist and Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. Originally from Sri Lanka, Dr Kanga migrated to Australia in 1992 and obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Adelaide in 1997. He underwent post-graduate training at Westmead Hospital in Sydney and completed his Cardiology advanced training at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide and Royal Darwin Hospital.

With a relentless passion for healthcare, Dr Kanga played a crucial role in establishing an integrated cardiac services network throughout the Northern Territory in collaboration with NT Cardiac, NT Government, and the Commonwealth. This has firmly positioned him as a leading cardiologist in his field. Dr Kanga has also been instrumental in providing regular outreach services to people in the Top End and Alice Springs Hospital.

Not limited to his specialty, Dr Kanga has contributed significantly to shaping the chronic disease coordination unit, which provides support for remote Indigenous patients. As the Chair of the Indigenous Council of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, Dr Kanga continues to demonstrate his unwavering dedication to improving cardiac healthcare, particularly for Indigenous Australians.
