Dr Hemi Patel

Mr Patel is an accomplished ENT and Head and Neck Surgeon, with extensive training and qualifications from some of the most respected medical institutions in the world. He obtained his Medical Degree from the Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in London, and went on to complete his Master of Surgery at Imperial College. He then honed his skills as a Surgeon at the Eastern Deanery in Cambridge, before moving to Darwin in 2007.

Since arriving in Australia, Mr Patel has been committed to addressing the unique healthcare challenges facing indigenous communities and improving access to vital medical services. To this end, he completed a fellowship in Aboriginal Ear disease, which equipped him with specialized knowledge and expertise in this area. Mr Patel is currently the Head of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery at RDH, and the only ENT Surgeon in private practice in Darwin.

Mr Patel's contributions to healthcare in the Northern Territory have been significant. He established a Head and Neck Cancer Surgery service for all Territorians, as well as a Cochlear implant program for the treatment of people with profound deafness. His first Cochlear Implant Surgery in the NT, in 2013, received national acclaim.

Mr Patel is also a champion for improving ear health in Aboriginal children. He was instrumental in establishing the Hearing Health and Aboriginal Ear disease outreach program, which provides vital treatment and preventative measures for children with Ear disease and hearing loss. His expertise in treating Ear disease and Head and Neck cancer in Aboriginal Australians has earned him recognition both nationally and internationally, and he is frequently invited to share his knowledge and experience.
