Dr Michael Wines

Dr Michael Wines is a knowledgeable and skilled urologist with a special interest in complex stone disease, endoscopic and laparoscopic urology, and a broad range of general urological services. He completed his medical training at the University of Newcastle in 1995 and commenced his surgical training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 1997. Dr Wines underwent urology training in 2001, completed his Fellowship in 2004 and was the first NSW Urologist to complete a two-year fellowship through the International Endourology Society. During this fellowship, he studied advanced stone disease and upper tract laparoscopy under Dr David Trolley, who is widely recognized as a world leader in this field. Prior to his endourology fellowship, Dr Wines completed a general urology fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital in 2005. As a member of the International Endo-urological Society, Dr Wines has a strong interest in kidney stone management and lithotripsy. He has participated in over 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including his most recent publication on blood splash injuries in endo-urology and the risk to the surgeon. Dr Wines’ research interests are diverse, and he continues to contribute to the advancement of urology through his work in the field. Aside from his professional achievements, Dr Wines is a married father of two. His wife practices as a Dermatologist and his father is a retired urologist, creating a strong connection to the urology community.
