Dr Kerrie Meades is a renowned Ophthalmologist based in Parramatta, Sydney, Australia. Dr Meades completed her medical degree with Honours from Sydney University in 1977. Following her graduation, she gained extensive experience by working at several hospitals in New South Wales, including Repat General Hospital Concord, where she served as Senior Resident in Ophthalmology. Later, between 1985 and 1987, she underwent specialised ophthalmological training at Sydney Eye Hospital, with secondments to hospitals such as Westmead, Lidcombe, Royal Prince Alfred, and St Vincent's.

Throughout her career, Dr Meades has continually expanded her knowledge and skills. In 1997, she underwent extensive training in LASIK refractive surgery under the guidance of Dr Peter Stewart. As a result, she became one of the pioneers of laser cataract surgery and was the first ophthalmologist to perform Intracor in Australasia. She has also been involved in the introduction of Supracor and Kamra procedures.

Dr Meades holds multiple affiliations and memberships in medical organizations. She is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), Australian Society of Ophthalmologists (ASO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and a founding member of the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (AUSCRS). Additionally, she serves on the advisory board of ALCON and co-chairs the Women in Ophthalmology group.

Dr Meades has made significant contributions to the field of ophthalmology through her research and publications. She has authored numerous papers on topics ranging from cataract and refractive surgery to general ophthalmology. Her expertise extends to areas such as the histopathology of an iris microhemangioma, atypical microbacterial keratitis, larva tick bite conjunctivitis, and true exfoliation of the lens capsule.

In addition to her professional achievements, Dr Meades has also engaged in charitable work. She has been actively involved in providing cataract surgeries in China and Tibet, as well as refractive work in Vietnam. Currently, she supports much-needed medical care initiatives in the Pacific and Madagascar through her association with the SAN.
