Dr Kathryn Austin

Dr. Kathryn Austin is a warm and compassionate Obstetrician and Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist based in St Leonards, Sydney, Australia. With a diverse career history, Dr. Austin has gained extensive experience and established herself as a senior clinician in the specialist obstetric clinic for medical complications of pregnancy at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), where she holds a public appointment. Moreover, she played a pivotal role in creating the preconception planning service at Royal Hospital for Women (RHW).

Dr. Austin's journey into medicine began as a pharmacist, and the skills she acquired during that time were invaluable in her work with Mothersafe NSW, where she provided counseling on medication safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Newcastle and subsequently underwent specialist training at RHW, followed by Maternal Fetal Medicine subspecialty training at RNSH. Driven by her caring and empathetic nature, Dr. Austin takes great pleasure in making a positive impact on maternal and child healthcare.

Aside from her remarkable medical practice, Dr. Austin is deeply committed to giving back to her community. She has served on the Board of the Gidget Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing support to individuals struggling with perinatal depression and anxiety. Furthermore, she holds a non-executive director position with the AMA (NSW) and has been honored with the AMA NSW President's Award for her exceptional service to the medical profession.
