Dr Ball is an accomplished neurosurgeon with an exclusive focus on the treatment of spinal disease. He offers specialised care for all spinal conditions ranging from disc bulges, spinal stenosis, tumours, fractures to scoliosis. Drawing from his extensive experience, Dr Ball is highly skilled in the care of patients with spinal cord injuries, having worked in the NSW Statewide Spinal Injuries Service at Royal North Shore Hospital. His expertise has made him a well-regarded surgeon at both Royal North Shore Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital.
Dr Ball is a pioneer in spinal surgery technology and made history as the first surgeon to perform robotic assisted spinal surgery in the southern hemisphere. With a strong research background in spinal biomechanics, Dr Ball is currently a principal investigator in the RISCIS drug trial for spinal cord injury and serves on the steering committee for the NSPH ICHOM study.
Dr Ball's academic background is impressive. He graduated in medicine from the University of Newcastle in 1999. While at the university, he concurrently completed an honours degree in Medical Science with a research year studying cancer biology at the Garvan Institute for Medical Research in Sydney.
