Dr Jose Cid Fernandez

Dr. Jose Cid Fernandez is an expert in oncoplastic breast surgery, providing exceptional care to patients with breast cancer. With a commitment to delivering the highest quality of care, Jose works closely with his patients to ensure their needs are met. He places great importance on prompt and comprehensive communication with referring physicians and provides clear and complete information to patients and their families.

Jose completed his general surgical training in the UK before earning his DM thesis degree from the University of Nottingham in 2006. He then undertook sub-specialty fellowship training in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital, WA in 2007. He served as a Consultant Surgeon at Royal Perth Hospital from 2008-2020, where he was Head of Department of General Surgery (2013-2018) and Head of the Multidisciplinary Breast Service (2009-2011).

Jose is committed to the integration of plastic surgery techniques into breast cancer surgery, preserving the aesthetic outcomes and quality of life of patients without compromising local control of disease. He is a staff Consultant at Fiona Stanley Hospital since February 2015 and holds an appointment as Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Medical School, UWA. His commitment to both the public system and the education of doctors in WA is unwavering. He also remains actively involved in clinical research.

Jose offers GP education programs and can discuss various topics, including breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, modern surgical management, benign breast disease, familial breast cancer, and controversies with breast implants.
