A/Prof George Condous

A/Prof George Condous is an esteemed gynaecologist with a wealth of expertise in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Currently serving as an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sydney Medical School, Nepean, University of Sydney, George is highly regarded for his specialization in gynecological ultrasound and advanced endosurgery.

With a strong dedication to improving women's health, George has established Australia's first and only Acute Gynecology Unit, which utilises ultrasound as the primary assessment tool for women presenting with emergency gynecological complications, early pregnancy complications, miscarriage, and ectopic pregnancy. Additionally, he has pioneered One-Stop Ultrasound based diagnostic clinics for women experiencing abnormal uterine bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, and menopausal bleeding.

Recognized for his expertise in advanced endosurgery procedures, including interventions for pelvic masses, adnexal pathology, severe endometriosis, and hysterectomy, George also conducts "Hands on" Live Sheep Laparoscopic Workshops for gynaecologists at Camden Veterinarian School.

George obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Adelaide before completing his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in London from 1993 to 2001. During his time as a senior research fellow at St George's Hospital, London from 2001 to 2003, he developed a keen interest in early pregnancy, particularly the management of pregnancies of unknown location (PULs). In 2005, he returned to Australia, where he completed his Laparoscopic Fellowship at the Centre for Advanced Reproductive Endosurgery, Royal North Shore, Sydney.

Joining Nepean Hospital as a Consultant gynaecologist and Senior Lecturer in 2006, George quickly rose to the position of Associate Professor. In 2010, he was appointed Departmental Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Nepean Hospital. George secured his MRCOG in 1999 and FRANZCOG in 2005. In 2009, he was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine (MD) from the University of London for his groundbreaking thesis titled "The management of pregnancies of unknown location and the development of new mathematical models to predict outcome."

George's passion for women's health has established him as a key figure in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, both nationally and internationally.
